Halloween Spooktacular aka "The Death Trap" aka The Yard

Today I am posting about my spooky, death trap of a yard. There is garbage and debris everywhere. The chain link fence being held together by shoe laces. The deck is rotted and the brick steps in the front aren't even attached to the house anymore! Seriously- what are we thinking?! Here are some pics for your viewing pleasure...

Glass Tub Doors?

The most recent conundrum?

Glass Bath Doors
vs.
Shower Curtain

As I've said before, we only have 1 full bathroom. We've decided to do a 4.5 foot bathtub with a knee wall at the foot of the tub and a glass wall. Kind of like this:

I love this bathroom. For one, it is very similar to the size and layout of our bathroom; and of course they have marble floors so what's not to love? The question is do we do frameless sliding glass tub doors? I like the glass door idea because it will keep the bathroom looking open and airy. What I don't like about it is they constantly need to be cleaned. (I have glass shower doors and EVERYTIME I shower I have to clean the doors or the bathroom looks dirty) My mother in law also warned me that if we have kids the glass sliding doors will be a pain because the track on the bottom and the fact that it only opens up half way. I don't really love shower curtains either- they get scuzzy and will hide the nice new tub, fixtures and tile. HELP!

My Jewelry Box

Besides renovating the kitchen and upstairs full bath we have a small (very, very, very small- do you sense a theme here?) half bathroom off of the kitchen. Because of the size of the room I would like to spoil it a little bit and kind of treat the accessories  in the room as jewelry. I think a really beautiful mirror and floor tile will really make an impact in an otherwise small and utilitarian room. I am obsessed with all of the mirrors in this post but they wouldn't necessarily work for the upstairs bathroom because I need a medicine cabinet. I am going to run wild in the half bath!

All of these mirrors are so different. I really think any of them would add a nice element of surprise in the room.

This floor tile looks so cool and since the area is so small it fits in my budget!

Delicatus

On Saturday we went to SwanTile in North Bergen to look at tile and counter top's for our kitchen renovation. We came across a really cool slab of granite that I've never seen or heard of before called Delicutus. The colors are beautiful. The base is a creamy off white color and there are swirls of gray and black. Our cabinets are going to be a modified shaker style, espresso on the bottom and antique white on  the top. I think this will look really good with the two tone cabinet idea. I never thought I would like something this "loud" but I do. So there you have it- my soon to be counter top.

Garbage Galore

Mr. B and I went by the house on Saturday and what I saw was disturbing to say the least. People are dumping garbage in the yard! Dead bushes, cinder blocks you name it- it's being thrown in the yard. The house is empty, the current owners had to relocate to Denver. People must know it's empty and are using it as a dumping ground! We aren't scheduled to close until December 1st- who knows what surprises we will find by then. Where's the neighborly love?!

Marvelous Marble

All of a sudden I am obsessed with marble. We only have one full bathroom in the house (bummer) so I really want to make it shine. Mr. B and I went to look at tile and fell in love with 2" marble hexagon tiles for the floor and marble subway tiles for the walls. I also want to do a white vanity with matching marble top and incorporate a lot of chrome accessories. I've posted pictures of what I love and *HOPE* to be able to make my bathroom look similar. Did I mention that my 1 and only full bathroom is teeny tiny? It's only 5 x 7! I don't know how I'm fitting all of these ideas in there but I will!
