Time Flies

Time flies. Five months ago I married my best friend; it feels like it was yesterday. Our wedding was really something special. I know I know everyone says that about their own wedding but it REALLY WAS! We had a beautiful day filled with our friends, family and so much love. It just felt as though every person was bursting with love that day and so happy for us. We worked hard saving and planning for that wedding and it really was our first big accomplishment as a couple. I have so many favorite moments from that night, here are 5.

The way Mr. B looked at me during our ceremony. I swear I looked into his eyes and saw a movie of our whole lives together being played.

Primo in a tux by my side the whole morning while I was getting ready.

After our ceremony Mr. B and I went to our bridal suite to freshen up. The bridal suite looked over the cocktail hour. We both looked at each other in amazement. We couldn’t believe we did it- we were married.

Our first dance. Of course this was going to be on the list. We couldn’t stop talking and laughing during it. (Same goes for our ceremony! I was talking to Mr. B the whole time while the priest was talking. Mr. B was yelling under his breath for me to shut up lol)

My dad, sister and Mr. B’s brother’s speeches. Every single one was amazing. All three of them really spoke from the heart and really got our relationship. Of course my sister threw in some jokes that only we understood which had me laughing hysterically.

Cake cutting and our take topper. We didn’t smash cake into each other’s faces- I hate that! It was still a lot of fun and our cake topper was so cute, everyone loved it.

Dancing our asses off. We really had so much fun.

Can we do it again??! :)

Waiting Game

The whole getting ready to close process is a pain! It drags on forever. We got the title report and it turns out the owner owes the Department of Sanitation over $8,000 in fines for their dirty, disgusting yard! (The ironic thing is we asked if we could clean it up before the closing because we wanted to do it before it got really cold. All we wanted in return was the fee for the container IF (and only if) for some reason we didn't close.) Now we have to wait around some more for them to try to pay these fines or get the reduced or something. I just want to be in the house already! It's bad enough we won't be living there right away. (Now I'm whining)

pa

On Saturday one of the most important men in my life passed away. He was my grandfather but so much more than that. He was the patriarch of my family, my go to person for good advice and one of the smartest, most loving people I know. It was amazing to see how many people's lives he touched the same way he touched mine. There were people of all ages and walks of life at his wake and funeral- young people he taught to ride horses, politicians, civil servants, veterans, cowboys it was truly something. I have and always will look up to him. He set the bar for the type of life I want to live and person I strive to be. He made his dreams come true, has the best family and made tons of friends along the way. The pride I felt in my family the last couple of days is overwhelming. We really are so lucky.

I love this picture. I had the honor of having him read a poem and prayer at my wedding in June.

There will forever be a hole in my heart now that he is gone, but I promise to try to live life to the fullest everyday, just as he did.
